Observations from 2020: While sheltering in place during the Covid-19 pandemic surge in NYC I listened to a LOT of music. One week all I listened to was Forbidden Society tracks at https://soundcloud.com/forbiddensocietyrecs. Those days were really dark and surreal.
However all the while I have worked at home, I am constantly reminded how grateful I had changed my relationship with alcohol a few years back when a friend told me about a site called LifeBac. He said look at this program. It's totally different from AA and rehab protocols. The demanding, abstinence-only AA treatment isn’t the only way. Really?? So I paused what I was doing. I didn't particularly want to read about how to stop drinking. But I knew something had to give and too many friends and family had been expressing concerns. So I read all the info about the two anti craving meds that LifeBac promotes along with the rest of their program which they promote with the call to action: CHANGE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ALCOHOL. I was impressed and signed up And you know what? I had a great experience with LifeBac. Their program and the anti craving med, baclofen, actually helped reduce my cravings and inability to stop drinking after a few whatever. It always had to be more and more. I am now able to drink moderately with friends or even by myself which is going to be more often now that the weather is getting colder and we can't meet outside at one of the numerous street side constructions that popped up all over the city when inside dinning was banned. I shudder to think what I might have done during those first frightening months of Covid when NYC just shut down. NYC is finally opening up and I have moved onto to some less heavy music for most of the day, although I sneak in Forbidden Society tracks every now and then. They are great for background ambiance while listening to the dire news like watching the West Coast burn or the Black Lives Matter protests in Oregon. If I were living in Czech Republic I would certainly catch some of their shows. I was pretty amazed that they had so many tour dates throughout the fall. Nothing like that is happening in the US. I am still pretty much holed up at home.

Label Night
- After setting up Forbidden Society Recordings in the autumn of 2010, there was a label launch party which took place at Cross in Prague. Since then, Forbidden Society Label Nights are held regularly every three months. In 2010 and 2011, there were five parties in total which hosted some of the best producers and DJs in hard drumandbass scene, namely Current Value, Dub Elements, Katharsys, Counterstrike and Machine Code.
- The line-up always consists of well-established Czech DJs as well as talented newcomers. Moreover, up-and-coming DJs have also the chance to play at Forbidden Society Label Night because of mix contests which they can take part in.
- This original party with unforgettable atmosphere has quickly become popular among party people. Forbidden Society Label Night attracts approximately 400 fans who attend the party and fill the Cross club. They are coming from various corners of the country but there is also a huge fan base abroad, for example in Germany. The visualisation and scene designed of the night made by Vj zeroCube(Kolabs Visual Artists) makes the music experience even stronger.
- In 2011, Forbidden Society Recordings Night has also expanded to Element club in Slovakia. The sound of Forbidden Society Recordings was heard also in Portuagal at the event called Brothers in Crime – Yellow Stripe Recordings vs. Forbidden Society Recordings.
- If you want to book artists from Forbidden Society Recordings artist roster or if you are interested in doing Forbidden Society Label Night in your city, please get in touch via contact form in the CONTACT section. Thanks.

COMPUTERARTIST Interview
Computerartist will be playing a set 15.3.13 @ FSRECS Label Night - OVERKILL EDITION, we asked him 5 questions so if you got a min. take a look whats new by the this guy:)
The number of your releases can be seen that 2012 was not as productive as in 2011. Why is this? You didn't have enough time or you are more focused on playing than production?
COMPUTERARTIST : With that, unfortunately, I have to agree. 2012 was not so productive as the previous one. It's probably about 50 to 50. Lately, I have very little time and playing is still more. This year, I will definitely focus more on production and move somewhere else.
What is your future? Do you have any projects planned or letting it run its course?
COMPUTERARTIST :There is not much time for other projects, but I'm a work in a few non DNB things, and I want eventually let them out. Otherwise, I expect things to come rather than something planned.
You played on Imagination, Let It Roll Festival and other events. Today you certainly belong to the top in the Czech drum and bass. With whom do you want to work together once? Or would you prefer playing together?
COMPUTERARTIST : Certainly some cooperation on the track. Who? From the Czech Republic probably Rido. I think that our work together might sound interesting. From the world it is a long list, and no one did not enjoy reading. Fulfilled dream would be collaboration with Noisia, Phace, or Spor, if he ever returned to DNB. But as I say, there is so many people. With anyone of the world's top producers would like to do something together sometime.
Do you watching someone on the Czech scene from the less famous people?
COMPUTERARTIST :From the less famous people currently took me maybe A-Cray. I heard from him a few things, and I must say that was quite interesting.
And finally, how do you see the future of dnb scene?
COMPUTERARTIST : Hard to say. Hopefully it will be at least as it is today.
HALLUCINATOR Interview
Hallucinator will be playing a set 15.3.13 @ FSRECS Label Night - OVERKILL EDITION, we asked them 5 questions so if you got a min. take a look whats new by the Metalheads:)
How do you like the Czech Republic? And in addition to events you know something about our country?
HALLUCINATOR : Very much! Each time we played there is always been something to remember. Always met really nice people and totally having it musicwise. Then we know your country has been through lots of shit in the past and is not long since it's a republic itself, but i can tell you guys are definitely doing pretty well now!
You are known not only for your great music, but also thanks to your horror image. Extends your image into your personal lives? Do you have on the shelf exposed skulls and in bedroom collection of whips?
HALLUCINATOR :Actually... YES! Very much inspired by the other side.. Often goin to abandoned and haunted places, ancient cemeteries and also pretty much into Victorian Post Mortem (beside having skulls on the shelves and whips/handcuffs in the closet!).
Who inspires you? I'm interested in music (electronics and metal), and your image too.
HALLUCINATOR : Our roots are Metal, we witnessed and lived the beginning of each band which is now massive as Slayer, Metallica or Pantera and seen the scene changing into Death Metal and Grind Core, as when we were young electronic music didn't existed beside Kraftwerk. So our inspiration is very wide as we also lived the beginning of electronica from acid house to nowdays... About our image, beside being into horror since young age, it started off as we were three producers but only one dj, so didn't want people to recognize Hallucinator as one particular face and wore a mask to have no identity.
Is there someone with whom you've always wanted to play?
HALLUCINATOR :mmmm.... Lemme think... Justin Bieber! (LOL)
Would you recommend us some names of Italian dnb?
HALLUCINATOR : Italy has quite many well recognized producers worldwide at the moment, the ones that we can definitely recommend are: Maztek, Aeph, Dabs, Lowroller, Micromakine, Noizeskill and Arp XP.
COUNTERSTRIKE Interview
Justin from Counterstrike will be playing a set 15.3.13 @ FSRECS Label Night - OVERKILL EDITION, we asked him 5 questions so if you got a min. take a look whats new by the Master himself:)
Let's start with your name. Many people think that your name arose in connection with the well-known computer game Counter Strike. But I know that the game was released a year after your birth. How did you create your name?
COUNTERSTRIKE : At first we were producing as Animal Chin and 500 Mills. When we were offered our first release the label said we needed a shorter name. I think Dieselboy suggested The Warriors or something like that. I liked the name Second Strike, after the name of a Mampi Swift track. 500 Mills was too busy playing Counter Strike when he should have been thinking about new names. Eventually someone suggested, "Why don't you just use Counterstrike?". We didn't have any better ideas, so we just went with it.
You have come a long way in producing and playing and have created a lot of tracks. Where do you find inspiration and was the beginning of someone whose work influenced you in some way?
COUNTERSTRIKE :I would say when we first started producing DNB, Techstep and Neurofunk is what influenced us most. People like Dom and Roland, Konflict, The Panacea, Tech Itch, Decoder, Ed Rush, Optical, Matrix, Nico, Trace and Fierce. I'm not sure how many tracks we've written, but it's a lot. As we get older it becomes harder and takes longer to write music. We've become really critical about our tracks and probably do 1 a month now. When we first started we were doing 2 a week. They would just fly out of the studio. Nowadays most of our motivation and inspiration comes from the kind words of fans or when you hear that someone you look up to plays or likes your music. Just today we heard that Amon Tobin plays our music. With our last EP we received some great feedback from Maxim from The Prodigy. Hearing things like that is what keeps us going.
You listen to Hard DNB often enough. What music do you listen when you want to relax?
COUNTERSTRIKE : Com Truise and Woven Hand are rocking my chill out room at the moment.
You played in a lot of countries in the world. Tell us what is the difference between playing in a club in the world and here in the Czech Republic.
COUNTERSTRIKE :I've never been in a country where people love DNB more than Czech Republic. I can hear DNB coming our of my fellow passenger's headphones every time I use the metro in Prague. Every skate/snowboarding shop I walk into plays DNB. It's everywhere, so every time I play a DNB party in Czech Republic I feel reassured that the people know my music and that they are there to hear it. That's not something you always get in other countries.
5th And finally, how do you see the future of dnb scene?
COUNTERSTRIKE : Lots of people have prophesied the end of DNB. I remember big dance magazines saying "DNB is dead" as far back as 1997. I think there will always be a DNB scene. There's enough people that love and support the music to keep it alive. Hopefully that means we can keep on going till we are 70!

FORBIDDEN SOCIETY RESIST THE PRESSURE EP PROMO MIX
I have been working on those tracks after my To The Threshold Album, some of the tunes was in the process already while i did the previous album. You can expect from this release hard Drum and Bass tunes, again i have been trying to do my best on all of those tunes! And possibly best sounding as i can, as sometimes it was not easy at all to do the right sound. I added on this release also one more experimental kind of Drum and Bass, 4/4 track, would not say its a Crossbreed one, then Electro remix from my side project Pornothrasher, as i enjoy to do Electro too as many of you know.
I asked MC Coppa to record for me vocals for the track that is on the EP, and need to say im really happy with the result, not the heaviest DNB track, but rolls really good and hard enough to kick your ass!The Rest is my solo i would say pure Hard Drum and Bass tracks, how i like to produce and to play! I hope you enjoy this release, again i tested it at gigs, and the tunes just went greatly, some of them some of you asked on the net already. Thank you so much, and buy the vinyl to keep them alive. release date should be end of October, 4 tunes on vinyl and 4 tunes as digital extra bonus tracks - if you buy the vinyl EP you get with it unique code where you can download the digital release of FSRECS 008 with the extra 4 digital only tracks, two weeks as usual the tunes on digital shops.

( But don't forget to make it hard!:) ( Stay Hard ) Forbidden Society - CRUSH THEM, yes i know some of you might already know this banger, i did a new mixdown and as you know i love my fans, and respect them, ive decided to give this one for free !m! FORBIDDEN SOCIETY PROMO MIX 2012 - TO THE THRESHOLD ALBUM PROMO
I have been working on this album over the past months, producing all tunes, working on the collaborations and remixes and finding artwork. For this release, I commissioned drawings from Tokyo based Anime artist Kikai, while Kristof of NOSQRL graphics provides artwork for FSRECS, and the cover of this album. I've been testing all those tracks live during my bookings throughout Europe and even got the chance to play them in Tokyo - Japan, and hope you will enjoy them as much as I did over the last months - it's in your hands now. The album consists of various kinds of music I like and love to procude, crossbreeding Drum and Bass, Drumstep, Electro and Dubstep - yet they are united by one common idea. They seek to push the boundries of heavy sound and are drilled to the maximum of hardness, hence the title: TO THE THRESHOLD. I would like to thank all the people who were involved in the project, artists, graphic designers, and everyone who helped making this possible.
DISCOGRAPHY
A : DONNY & FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - CREATOR & DESTROYER
For some hard Drum & Bass fans maybe like a dream come true:) The collaboration of this track went really good, and the result is proper Drum & Bass smasher with big cinematic intro that turns into hard DNB track with big distorted reece & smashing drums! Tested and works really good, specially if you start with this one! Really happy we could do this together with master Donny, really nice guy and good producer, FSRECS is happy to have this talent on the artist rooster:)
B: AUDIO - BURN IT DOWN
Let's be honest, Audio is the no.1 in Drum & Bass now, his ideas in tracks, the mixdowns and like everything is so sick. Gareth is really good guy, honest and to get an Audio tune on a label is not that easy, so FSRECS is really proud to have him on the label. Burn It Down is a bit older tune from Gareth, its like from the FReak Recordings / Tech Freak era, but this wont to get this track down, i am sure a lot of hard Drum & Bass fans, and not only hard will be happy to have this banger and play out! Audio as its best as we know him, big kick, bass that turns you back in hell, and crispy snares. This track just make you move even if you don't want to! Audio is the Master!:)
C:
FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - THE PUNCH
This track get really good response so far even if there was just a short clip on Neurofunkgrind. Hard DNB stepper, with rap vocals in it, and loud ( really loud :) snares & deep sub !m! Again, tested and works! But you all will see yourself if you buy this track and play it out:)

What to write about this track, surely many of you have already known this one and you are waiting for it to be released. B: FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - PAIN THRESHOLD
A solo track from Forbidden Society really doesn‘t stay under the shadow of A side of FSRECS 005! Angry metal screams, rigid basslines and sharp drums that will ring in your ears for a long time! Be careful with this weapon on your gigs as it kills!
C:
KALASHNIKOV - FUCKING (VENGANZA & DUB ELEMENTS 2011 VIP) (BONUS TRACK)
This is a new version of the track that Venganza & Dub Elements did. I was thinking this track could really fit to FSRECS for its metal energy. Maybe some of you know the original but this is the 2011 VIP.
A: FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - BURN
A nasty banger with a rap vocal in it. Dirty, hard, good sounding tune that works on gigs. There are still many questions about when this tune is going going to be released, so you better get this one quickly!
B: FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - WAR ENSEMBLE
The name of the track fully explains what to expect. A proper Drum & Bass track heavily influenced by metal, especially Slayer!
C: FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - ONSET (BONUS TRACK DIGITAL ONLY)
The second tune in the forth release on FSRECS that includes a rap vocal. Hard Drum & Bass tune with deep bass and raw syths. If you play this one on gig, you can be sure it will works as people like rap vocals in hard Drum & Bass tracks. Testing the tune on parties all around the world just proves this fact.
A: FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - DESTINY EDEN (CURRENT VALUE REMIX)
An experimental remix with deep basslines, atmospheric reece and as usual outstanding drum editing by Current Value, again a masterpiece from this genius, high quality tune for the crowds all over the world. Be sure you won’t forget this track after hearing it in the club!

Again a collaboration between the hard Drum'N'Bass fighters, Forbidden Society & Katharsys. As you can expect, a bit techno influenced hard Drum'N'Bass tune with loud snares and kicks driven by intense bassline, that ensures movement on the dancefloor as you can't stand still to this banger! Tested in clubs and it works!
C:
FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - THE SMASHER (KATHARSYS RMX)
This remix made by the French evil duo Katharsys is a tune, which gets attention every time when it’s played. On a big sound system it just sounds massive with the deep subs and loud kicks and snares and does the job on the dancefloor. Tested successfully on humans worldwide!
A : COUNTERSTRIKE & FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - EXTREME (CURRENT VALUE RMX)
A powerful half beat tune full of metal kicks, a masterpiece in the sense of drum editing. The tune turns into a stepper, that is even more intense and makes you wanna shake your head like at a metal concert. If you wanna destroy the dancefloor, this killer remix by Current Value is the right weapon of choice!
B : FORBIDDEN SOCIETY & KATHARSYS - REDEEMER
Straight up dancefloor orientated tune, the right stuff for a hard dnb set! Styles of both producers are combined perfectly in this tune - big bass, powerful snares, distorted reeces, another killer to make the crowd go absolutely nuts, named Redeemer!
EXCLUSIVE BONUS DIGITAL TRACK: FORBIDDEN SOCIETY - FILTH VIP (CURRENT VALUE RMX)

An experimental dancefloor track with killer kicks and huge snares. Has devastated any dancefloor that Forbidden Society or Current Value have played it to, especially at Therapy Sessions where the crowd went crazy to it!
